Here Kitty, Kitty...

"When you see a one-eyed cat, you can make a wish come true. Just spit on your thumb, stamp in in the palm of your hand, and make a wish" - American superstition according to The Cryptopedia

For those of you who find yourself hanging around the shop frequently, you probably have already heard. For those of you who don't...well...I got a new kitty!

Well, here she is...my little, purring shelter find. I'd like to say that we walked into the shelter and picked a kitty based on our needs and wants. But let's be honest here. This kitty definitely picked us! As soon as we passed her cage, she gave us the eyes...the 'take me home' eyes. And we were done. LOL! Gillian Kemp, in The Good Cat Spell Book says that "Cats are believed to have the power to bewitch people..." Need I say more???

For those of you who have been keeping up on her progress with us, Chloe (her name, which means 'blooming') is doing wonderfully! After an unsure moment or two, she quite confidently took over the house! You should see her, strutting around like a little lioness...

Well, seeing as we have books galore at the shop about animals (whether you're viewing them as familiars, animal guides, etc), I thought I'd share a few interesting superstitions about our kitty cat friends...

"Two cats in a fight near a dying person, or over the grave of a recently deceased person, are supposedly the devil and an angel fighting for soul possession" - English

"In the early sixteenth century, a visitor had to kiss the family cat for good luck" - English

"It is considered bad luck to cross a stream while holding a cat" - French

*These superstitions, as well as other interesting and quirky metaphysical facts, were found in David F. Kramer's Cryptopedia: A Dictionary of the Weird, Strange and Downright Bizarre.

You're gonna leave a comment? Yay!

One request though, ok? I don't expect adoration (though, it would be nice, lol) and I don't expect folks to agree with everything I say or do. But in the words of my mother and grandmother before her...If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all!

Mocking and hatefulness is not cool and remember, mean people really do suck.
